Special Focus on Tourette's Syndrome
Additionally, Dr. Bloom offers clinical expertise and over 25 years of personal and family experience in dealing with Tourette's Syndrome. Treatment approaches are based on the individual's level of functioning, family dynamics, educational/vocational performance, and severity of symptoms. The primary focus of clinical intervention relates to the individual's acceptance and understanding of Tourette's Syndrome. Additional emphasis is on the family's ability to cope with difficult symptoms. This may include behavior modification, modeling, and social skills training. For adolescents, this may include role play, modeling, and more traditional therapeutic intervention. Dr. Bloom also evaluates and treats associated symptoms of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.
